Havana, Parque Central

It seems like something that they say to tourists, that’s not really true, but it is true. The so-called “hot corner” really does exist. It’s a seemingly permanent argument, often about baseball, under the trees beside the statue of Marti in the Parque Central, the beautiful republican square at the top of the Paseo del Prado.

The 2 defecting Cuban boxers are apparently heading back to Havana. Upon finding them at a resort outside Rio, Brazilian authorities say they are 'repentant' and want to go back home. I guess a few days living it up was enough to make them realize there is more to life than money. This is the type of thing than can really lift morale on the streets of Cuba.

I've got to be kidding?? What, that it lifts morale that may have been sagging? It boosted my morale to think of these guys partying on the beach then coming to a realization about homeland over money. Why wouldn't it for an average nationalistic Cuban???
